What is the "Fertile Window"?

The fertile window is the period during a woman's cycle when pregnancy is possible. It typically spans six days: the five days leading up to ovulation and the day of ovulation itself. Because sperm can live inside the female body for up to five days, having intercourse during this window significantly increases the chances of conception.

How the Calculation Works

While every body is unique, ovulation usually occurs about 14 days before the start of the next menstrual period. This tool calculates your estimated ovulation by:

• Subtracting 14 days (the average luteal phase) from your total cycle length.
• Adding that number of days to the start date of your last period.
• Identifying the fertile window as the three days before and including the day of ovulation.
